Hello there,

We have finally booked flights to Sydney going out in June for 3 weeks or so to visit our sonThumpUp . I am now trying to find out which Visa I can apply for. The E-visa seems to be the easiest but there is the question of whether I can consider myself to be "in good health". I am not sure whether having RA but still being mobile allows me to fit into this category and wonder if any of you have experience of this. If I am not considered to be in good health does this mean that I would be required to have a medical?

I also would like to find out if my medication is allowed into Oz. At the moment I am on Mtx, Folic acid, Paracetamol and Codeine (I think some countries restrict Codeine). I also take Lisinopril for high blood pressure.

If any of you lovelies have any hints and tips on travelling to Oz I would be delighted to hear them.

Thank you

Karen

Hi Karen

I can't help you as far as your trip to Oz is concerned (having only travelled in Europe) but wanted to say I hope you have a wonderful holiday and enjoy every minute of it.

Hi Karen

Sorry, but unfortunately I haven't been outside Europe either so haven't the foggiest about travelling to Australia with meds. However this link might give you some guidelines. I use trip advisor quite a lot; it's full of useful (and useless Huh ) information!

Hope you have a great time. Sounds fab!

My son, Ian, completed the BUPA Great North Run on 15th September running for the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS). You can read his story at http://www.justgiving.com/ianlukewilson

Hi Karen,

Don't have any tips but to check out your meds, the best place to check is the British High Commission in Oz - http://ukinaustralia.fco.gov.uk/en/. There is an e-mail contact on this page. I know when I went to Dubai I wasn't allowed to take coedine because it's an opiate. Don't know if you are having a stop-over anywhere?

If you pack me neatly in one of your sutcases I will tell you everything you need to know when we get in the air, ok?

Hi there,

Not travelled to Australia, but when I have travelled outside of Europe I took a letter from my GP listing all my meds including the ones that are opiate based. Never experienced any problems, and everything went OK.

love,

Barbara
